This trip only takes about 2 hours. It’s the ideal route for a short getaway or just a quick scenic detour.

Whether by bus or car, the journey is smooth and enjoyable. Burlington Trailways offers bus services, but make sure you book in advance.

For those planning to drive by car, here are some simple directions I found useful: Start your journey on Interstate 80 West out of Des Moines.

You’ll stay on I-80 for approximately 154 miles (248 km). Then take Exit 1A for I-29/US 275 South.

After about 5 miles on I-29 South, watch for Exit 47. This will put you on US 275 East/West Broadway Street.

Continue along West Broadway Street for two miles before reaching Council Bluffs. You’re now ready to explore this charming Iowa town

The whole drive tends to take around 2 hours, depending on traffic conditions. Of course, it’s always best to check the roads before setting off!
